Dick Kleine lived his life by the words: "learn, earn, return." A staunch advocate for education, Dick was extraordinarily generous in his contributions of time, talent and treasure to create opportunity for all. We mourn the loss of a dear friend and community builder, whose service includes active participation on leadership boards in the Quad Cities. He partnered with United Way as Co-Chair for our Community Campaign in 1992 and 2012. He helped touch countless lives through his involvement with many organizations, as well as our Leadership Council and Tocqueville Committee. We’re inspired by Dick's legacy of compassion, generosity and service that’s helped more of our neighbors reach their potential in life. And, our hearts go out to his family and loved ones.

I’ve known Dick for over 20 years. They don’t get better than him. I still have a coaster he gave me years ago on my desk. It shows children in a circle symbolizing how we are all connected to each other. He will be missed.

Teachers: They’re so much more than educators, mentors and role models. They’re the heart and soul of our community. With every lesson, every word of encouragement and every smile, they light the way for our kids, nurturing not just minds, but dreams and hopes. As the new school year begins, let's pause to appreciate the Quad Cities’ educators who pour their hearts into their work, touching lives in ways that last a lifetime. They’re the unsung heroes who make the future brighter, one kid at a time. 💛
