Demon's Souls specifically has a "teleporting through worlds" vibe going on so it fits.

Dark Souls was good but a pretty big downgrade from Demon's
>Entire second half of game is borderline incomplete and is empty and sterile with terrible level design
>Level design in general is just a lot less consistent in terms of quality than Demon's Souls
>some of the worst environments of all the Souls games like Anor Londo castle, Tomb of the Giants, Ash Lake, and Lost Izalith
>godawful enemies like the bonewheel skeletons, Stray Demons, Anor Londo Archers, and Drakes
>many bosses are underwhelming or poorly designed, like O&S, Priscilla, Capra, Quelaag, Pinwheel, Seath, Taurus, Ceaseless Discharge, bed of chaos.
>bosses are already starting to focus primarily on action and rolling with less focus on original and puzzle bosses
>literally recycles the same boss three times
>Hitboxes and i-frames are more inconsistent
>moronic mechanics like curse and common consumables only sold by a select few merchants (I played 1.00)
>can't fast travel anywhere until over halfway into the game, constantly backtracking and running from one end of the world to the other just to buy an item from a shop or upgrade your equipment
>many of the key mechanics are poorly explained (lordvessel, upgrading estus, kindling bonfires, pardoning, etc)
>game world is a convoluted mess with necessary npcs scattered into the far corners of the world (the interconnected world starts to become more contrived as the game goes on), again requiring a ton of constant backtracking
>dogsh*t platforming sections
>only basically one main path you can take that you find through trial and error and backtracking. Less flexibility in boss order
>Demon's had focus on invasions, mindgames, and power dynamics, with risk reward for human form and punishing players for soul form. Dark Souls is about "le honorable duel" and there is really no downside to hollow and you just summon at the boss door. Really just devalues the whole experience- Anonymous

No, I actually felt that back when I played the game back in 2011, after playing Demon's Souls in 2009. Notice how I played 1.00, that's the launch version

Dark Souls had WAY MORE BRUTAL INVASIONS due to how easy it was to get sh*t to invade, You fricking moronic frick tard. GOD I hate frick tards like you that speak out the ass about sh*t you clearly don't know anything about.
Anonymous ....except you just go hollow for no penalty then summon at the boss room you absolute fricking moron. People were invading because they wanted PvP and duels, rather than it being a cat and mouse type game as intended.

Tired of you zoomers coming back years after the fact, following your eceleb meta youtube walkthrough guide, using every meta OP build and cheese strat imaginable, sweating your ass off in the boss fights, all just to say "heh, that was easy you scrub" when the point was never even about difficulty in the first place. The bosses in Demon's Souls were interesting, fit with the aesthetic and atmosphere of the stage, and designed in a way that you can figure out how to beat them while you're fighting them and are sharing a space with them. Once you figure out that you need to hit the Adjudicators wound it's an easy boss, and even before that it is easy, but you can't beat it yet, you have to avoid it and observe its quirks to figure out what's going on. And no, this is not some super high IQ puzzle, but it makes you feel much more like an adventurer than prescribed roll slop gameplay.
It was never about difficulty, you stupid fricking subhuman zoomer moron. It was about being an adventurer in a foreign and unforgiving world.

Dark Souls is a perfect game in its mechanics. its elegent whereas every other game From has made has severe issues with its gameplay. only DaS works perfectly as it is, even if its a little easy

the mechanics are pressing the roll button at the right time and then r1. it's the dullest game in the series by far - Anonymous

Oh truly, this is why it's full of terrible nonsense mechanics, like hit-stun tied to weapon upgrade and moronic sh*t like weapons in the same class having different swing speeds due to weight. There's of course poise, the least elegant combat mechanic ever made, so abhorrent they nerfed it forever.

This game is better than Demon Souls, no idea why DeS was picked to be " Ganker's contrarian take of the day"
Both are good, but Dark souls's flowing worlds and intricate bosses feel better than the mini arenas, easy as hell bosses, and moronic skill system the prior entry had.- Anonymous

I don't even believe that's true. There's a sizable chunk of morons on here who actually believe that only the first game in a series is ever good and everything afterwards is sh*t. I believe the vast majority of these demon souls 'fans' are fake fans along these lines

Preference to Demon's over Dark Souls 1 was already a thing back in 2012/13. Some people genuinely think that DeS is a better game than DaS in several departments, deal with it.

No, it's more because it had the best level design, best atmosphere, best sense of adventure, original and creative bossfights that were more puzzlelike than just rollslop, much less obnoxious backtracking than DaS, and was much more consistent in its quality.

I like Bloodborne better but I'm a sucker for victorian era aesthetics.
Dark souls 1 is solid as frick, demon's souls has my heart.
I think beginning at 2 their gameplay ideas started dropping. Elden ring is a struggle to enjoy as a result. - Anonymous

Dark Souls 1, Bloodborne and Sekiro are the peak for different reasons
They all have their flaws, mind you. Dark Souls 1 drops in quality in the second half, Bloodborne has the chalice dungeons and Sekiro doesn't have enough enemy variety

You could use this to describe almost every boss in the trilogy
Also DeS had its own fair share of bosses cramped into an empty square room- Anonymous

The issue with DS1 is the lack of build variety without deliberately crippling yourself.
There's no reason not to use Havel + RoFAP unless you're a mage. And the DLC deliberately designed to frick over mage build by making the bosses magic resistive + attacking faster.

I love Dark Root so much.
>giant stone guys who cast their magic spell
>bizarre enemies like the two-headed lizard, the mushrooms, and the living trees.
>giant cat enemies out of nowhere that can two shot low leveled characters
>shortcut between Dark Root Basin and the Sif arena
>straight areas followed by the open areas
>Sif fight
>water puddles and ambient noises give it a completely unique appearanceThere is so much character and creativity cramped into one area.

Very true op. Starting with dark souls 2 the series makes note of player's reception to dark souls and the game is made with those notes in mind. Dark souls does not suffer any mentacontextual understanding of itself, it simply is. None of the other games come close*

It's one of the most overhyped games of all time, completely unpolished, buggy, random, cryptic and repetitive as sh*t. Literally the entire game is
>walk to mob/boss
>press R1 to hit mob
>press dodge button when mob attacks back or use shield
No gameplay variery, no items to interact with the world, no puzzle solving, no town exploration and decision making, can't even swim or climb a fence- Anonymous
